We've been given a task to make a journal about the topic. I learned that there are distinct types of adverbs which include adverb of time, adverb of manner, adverb of place, adverb of degree, and adverb of frequency. I also learned to identify which adverb is which, which I consider can help me for creating my sentences and for them to be much better. I didn't find it difficult. The highlight of the topic is adverbs.

Quarter 2, Week 3 – Factors Influencing a Selection

In week 3, we learned about Factors Influencing a Selection. These are the factors influencing a selection, text and culture, text and history, and text and environment. Culture could be a term that may refer to social behaviors, information, beliefs, arts, laws, customs, capabilities, and habits of a certain group of individuals or races. Meanwhile, history is the entire series of past occasions associated with somebody or something. However, the environment is the environment or conditions in which an individual or any living thing lives or operates.

In our topic we also have our Anglo-American Icon in focus Walter Witman, is an American poet, essayist, and journalist, he is also a humanist that was part of the transition between transcendentalism and realism. Whitman is among the most influential poets in the American canon, often called the father of free verse. His work was controversial in its time, particularly his 1855 poetry collection Leaves of Grass, which was described as obscene for its overt sensuality. Walt Whitman spent his childhood in New York, where he was first employed at age 12 as a printer. He later held jobs as a newspaper editor and a schoolteacher. During this time he began publishing poems in popular magazines. The first edition of Leaves of Grass was printed in 185. Whitman was also included in the harry potter show.
The activity we've done is a quiz about the topic. I learned that reading a selection itself includes a part of benefits like it improves one's capability in dialect and vocabulary, helps explore, see the truth, and make a valuable judgment. I moreover have learned that it isn't only the text and culture, text and history, and text and environment that influenced a selection but also the internal factors. Internal factors are the author's feeling, foundation, and style of composing. I also learned Walt Whitman was an American poet, essayist, and journalist. A humanist, he was a part of the transition between transcendentalism and realism, joining both views in his works. Whitman is among the most influential poets within the American canon, frequently called the father of free verse. His work was controversial in its time, especially his 1855 poetry collection Leaves of Grass, which was described as obscene for its obvious sensuality. Whitman's own life came beneath investigation for his presumed homosexuality, and Whitman died at the age of 72years old. I don't find our topic difficult. The highlight of the topic is factors influencing a selection.

Quarter 2, Week 7 – Interjections

My Journal:

Our lecture in week 6 is all about Interjection. An interjection is one of the parts of speech used to express a particular emotion or sentiment (strong feeling or sudden emotion like surprise, joy, excitement, disgust, enthusiasm, sorrow, approval, calling, attention, etc) of the speaker to the reader. Interjection words are generally used at the beginning of a sentence. Sometimes, it is used as a single word or non-sentence phrase and followed by the punctuation mark. Some other interjection words are used as introductory expressions such as yes, no, well, indeed, etc. A comma (for a mild interjection) or an exclamation mark (for surprising, emotional, or deep feeling interjections) is used after the use of an interjection word in a sentence.

We've been given a task to make a journal about the topic. I discovered that Interjection is divided into the following types on the basis of ways to express interjections in the sentence such as greeting, joy, surprise, approval, sorrow, attention, and calling. Interjections are for conveying much more emotion or feeling. I had also been more aware of using different kinds of interjections. I didn't find it hard as the topic is easy to understand. The highlight of the topic is emotion.

Quarter 2, Week 6 – Rules in Capitalization and Use of Punctuation Marks

My Journal:

Our lecture in week 6 is all about Rules in Capitalization and Use of Punctuation Marks. Capitalization occurs when the first letter in a word is an upper case letter. Capitalization is the writing of a word with its first letter in uppercase and the remaining letters in lowercase. Skilled writers are stingy with capital. There are 14 punctuation marks. A punctuation mark is a mark or character used to punctuate, that is, to separate, elements of writing, such as sentences or phrases. In writing, we use punctuation marks like the commas and period in this sentence, to make things more manageable for a reader to understand.

We've given a quiz and made a journal about the topic. I discovered that marks of punctuation and capitalization benefit readers' understanding and interpreting sentences sufficiently. Some marks are required to prevent misreading and some are optional and depend on what the writer wishes to accomplish. For example, ending a sentence with an exclamation mark instead of a period. I didn't find the topic problematic, it's just kinda confusing. The highlight of the topic is that knowing and understanding the rules in capitalization will benefit each of us, students, to use it rightly.

"Quarter 2, Week 5 – Normal and Inverted Word Order"

My Journal:

Before week 5, we took a break. Our lecture in week 5 is all about Normal and Inverted Word Order. The task we've done is a quiz and making a journal about the topic. I learned that Inverted word order occurs when the matter comes after the action, between parts of the verb, or is not included at all. There are moments when we have to use word order to change the intended meaning. Normal word order occurs when a subject comes before action. A subject is the main individual or thing in a sentence and the verb is the action word. In addition to my learning, I’ve learned that Normal word order is when the sentence is in normal/natural order when the verb follows the subject. Inverted word order is when the sentence is in inverted order when the main verb, a helping verb, or a prepositional phrase comes before the subject. Most questions are in inverted order. So are sentences that begin with here is, here are, there is, or there are. Writers sometimes use inverted order to create an effect or to change the emphasis in a sentence. I don't find it tough to understand, it's just that sometimes you will mistake normal sentences for inverted sentences. The highlight of the topic is that knowing and understanding the normal and inverted word order will assist each of us, students, to use it correctly.
