In week 3, we learned about Factors Influencing a Selection. These are the factors influencing a selection, text and culture, text and history, and text and environment. Culture could be a term that may refer to social behaviors, information, beliefs, arts, laws, customs, capabilities, and habits of a certain group of individuals or races. Meanwhile, history is the entire series of past occasions associated with somebody or something. However, the environment is the environment or conditions in which an individual or any living thing lives or operates.
In our topic we also have our Anglo-American Icon in focus Walter Witman, is an American poet, essayist, and journalist, he is also a humanist that was part of the transition between transcendentalism and realism. Whitman is among the most influential poets in the American canon, often called the father of free verse. His work was controversial in its time, particularly his 1855 poetry collection Leaves of Grass, which was described as obscene for its overt sensuality. Walt Whitman spent his childhood in New York, where he was first employed at age 12 as a printer. He later held jobs as a newspaper editor and a schoolteacher. During this time he began publishing poems in popular magazines. The first edition of Leaves of Grass was printed in 185. Whitman was also included in the harry potter show.
The activity we've done is a quiz about the topic. I learned that reading a selection itself includes a part of benefits like it improves one's capability in dialect and vocabulary, helps explore, see the truth, and make a valuable judgment. I moreover have learned that it isn't only the text and culture, text and history, and text and environment that influenced a selection but also the internal factors. Internal factors are the author's feeling, foundation, and style of composing. I also learned Walt Whitman was an American poet, essayist, and journalist. A humanist, he was a part of the transition between transcendentalism and realism, joining both views in his works. Whitman is among the most influential poets within the American canon, frequently called the father of free verse. His work was controversial in its time, especially his 1855 poetry collection Leaves of Grass, which was described as obscene for its obvious sensuality. Whitman's own life came beneath investigation for his presumed homosexuality, and Whitman died at the age of 72years old. I don't find our topic difficult. The highlight of the topic is factors influencing a selection.
